Exodus 28: 31 - 32: And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue. And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.
The robe of the high priest was designed so that it could not be torn from the neck down.
Matthew 26: 64 - 65: Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
Caiaphas (the high priest) was so angered with Jesus’ words that he tore the priestly robe; so heated was his rage that he tore the robe that was designed not to be torn.
